John Healey Bromby was born 18 November 1770. In 1864, aged 94, he stepped down as Vicar of Holy Trinity parish, Hull but remained Master of the Hull Charterhouse, becoming in 1868 the oldest clergyman in the Church of England. He died of bronchitis on 25 March 1868 at Hull, Yorkshire, England.

The Reverend John Healey Bromby was probably the longest serving vicar ever in the Church of England, remaining in post for almost 70 years. Baptised on 15 November 1770 in Holy Trinity Church, he was the son of John Bromby, a Hull woollen merchant and was one of at least twelve of John’s children to be baptised in Holy Trinity.

The church was called Holy Trinity Church until 13 May 2017 when it became Hull Minster. The transepts date from c. 1300–20, the choir is estimated at 1340–70, the nave 1380–1420 and the tower 1490–1520. [2] .

On 25th March 1904, a ‘Smoking Café and Lounge’ was opened in the basement of the Prudential Building, Victoria Square, a landmark Hull building.
