Bilal Maqsood (Urdu: بلال مقصود) is a Pakistani singer-songwriter, composer, music video director and painter better known for being a founding member of the pop-rock band Strings (1988–2021). After the end of Strings in 2021 he has chosen a solo career that he launched in 2022.

Mar 26, 2023 · Singer Bilal Maqsood has opened up on why he and his former Strings bandmate Faisal Kapadia decided to part ways after 33 glorious years. His explanation came exactly two years after the band announced its split, and according to the singer, Strings always wanted to call it quits while they were at “peak” and not as a slow, dead band.

In 1988, Bilal Maqsood along with 3 of his other friends, launched a Karachi-based pop-rock musical band named ‘Strings.’ Bilal was the lead vocalist as well as guitarist of the band. The band’s music was composed by Bilal while the lyrics were penned by his father Anwar Maqsood.

Strings (Urdu: اسٹرنگز) was a Pakistani pop/rock band composed of two members, plus four live band members from Karachi, Pakistan. The band was initially formed by four college students— Bilal Maqsood (vocals and guitars), Faisal Kapadia (vocals), Rafiq Wazir Ali (synthesizer) and Kareem Bashir Bhoy (bass guitar)—in 1988.
