The Unuk River is a river in the U.S. state of Alaska and the Canadian province of British Columbia. It flows from the Coast Mountains southwest to Behm Canal, northeast of Ketchikan, Alaska.

The Unuk, which begins in Canada and flows into Alaska’s Misty Fjords National Monument, is a key Southeast Alaska King Salmon and Eulachon river. The Nass is British Columbia’s third largest salmon river, producing fish that are caught by both Canadians and Alaskans.

It bristles with diversity ranging from Alpine Tundra to the intact coastal temperate rainforest that covers much of the Alaskan portion of the watershed. Wolf, lynx, grizzly and black bears, fisher, mountain goat, moose, and black-tail deer call it home.

The Unuk River is a glacial system located approximately 85 km northeast of Ketchikan, Alaska (Figure 1.). Over the past few decades this river has supported runs of Chinook salmon averaging about 5,000 large Chinook salmon (essentially 28" and greater in length).
