Jun 17, 2005 · I was just watching this is spinal tap, and I was wandering what company made the double neck bass derek smalls played for big bottom? it's a lobely bass (in my opinion) and its shaped like a warlock or bich, but I'm not sure about the name on the headstock, was it the really high end symbol or something?

Nov 30, 2005 · I find it very funny that you just posted this as I watched "Spinal Tap" last night for the first time in roughly 25 years. I had forgotten all about the "Big Bottom" song and that they all play basses on the song and that the bass player played this double necked bass.

May 12, 2010 · Call me a fool but i never noticed before the song Big Bottom is performed with three basses. Well four really to be accurate as the groups regular Bass player Derek Smalls plays a double neck bass. Wot a fule I am, not noticing Davidl St Hubbins and Nigel Tufnel also wielding bass guitars. :blush:

This clip from the 1984 mock-umentary film "This Is Spinal Tap" shows actor Harry Shearer "AKA Derek Smalls" playing the BC Rich Spinal Tap Doubleneck Bass made for the movie's song "Big Bottom" which has 3 basses performing live.

This is one of only a handful that were made. This one was NOT used for the filming of Spinal Tap move. That one re-surfaced and was sold back in 2013 at an auction. comes with massive flight case! Condition: this bass guitar is in excellent condition for its age and history. There are a couple areas that have some wear.

My favorite Spinal Tap story is that they ordered 5,000 calendars as promo items. There was a typo on the order form. They got 5,000 colanders instead.
