Jan 17, 2006 · My grandfather clock is a bit too loud. Maybe it's because I have a small livingroom, or the acoustics of the room just make it loud. Or maybe I'm just too quiet. It's a Hermle 1161-853 movement. I was able to make the stike quieter by adjusting the amount of lift on the hammers. However, there doesn't seem to be a similar adjustment for the chime.

The clock keeps perfect time and sounds great,except the chimes tempo is too fast. I have never heard the Westminster chime strike as fast as this clock strikes it.

Jul 29, 2012 · OK, here is how I have it set now. Hope to hear from someone that built the same clock. I bent the brass wire with the hammer to work so its not the best but working. Now I have to find why it doesn't trip the chimes a the 1/4 hours. It keeps great time but I have to trip the chimes to go off. No shut off. A pin should lift the lever.
