I recently moved Downtown and am looking for a place to get a haircut. I have no bias towards barber's or salons, just need someone that knows how to work with curly hair cause I've had a lot of bad experiences in the past. On a good day my hair looks like Oscar Isaac's in Inside Llewyn Davis (typically a bit messier) to give a point of reference.

I get my haircut every 3-6 weeks depending on my bank account and how I feel. I go to the same barber shop every time but who cuts my hair varies. I get a number 1 on the sides and back up to my parting. I then just tell them to neaten up and trim the top and to style it. Sometimes i get a parting line cut in, other times not.

The more questions you ask, the less you have to respond. Figure out questions that will get your barber/hairstylist to talk your head off. Find something in common that you and your barber/stylist have in common. It will make having conversations so much easier. Learn to take care of your own hair/ get it cut as low as possible.

it isn't the haircut so much for me but the social anxiety accompanying it. i get anxious thinking about the condescending attitude of hairdressers, the snarky commentary that follows and the thought of just being alone in a space where I may be incessantly judged is unappealing to me. just few days back I took my ma along for a haircut!

Get a haircut halfway through boot leave. They will make you get a haircut day 1 at MCT, so don't bother getting one the day before. But I wouldn't show up with 10+ days of hair either.

I always get a haircut and they cut it wayyyy too short so then after 2 months I let my gf cut the sides and then when 2 months are over the barber cuts it wayyyy too short again. Rinse and repeat Reply reply

Same. My local barber shop has 3 chairs and stays busy but they're fast. They also do beards, eyebrows, and straight razor shaves. I just get a haircut and it's about 10 minutes in the chair. I take my 4yo son with me and we get our cuts together, just like my dad did with me.
