I added some oil and cleaned it and made sure to empty it of fluids, but I didn't have any punches to remove and examine it. The tip of the firing pin was not sharp, it did not have appear to have sheared off. I may buy another one to try that.

The pin sold alone is one style, the pin sold as a "bolt repair kit" is another style - both are spring loaded. If you are desperate you might consider rolling the dice and ordering both the single firing pin and the bolt repair set.

Dec 23, 2010 · The evolution of the vz.58 firing pins reminds me of the change from thick, fluted pins in the milled AK-47 line to thin, flat pins in the AKM. I had always presumed that this was done merely to simplify production, but maybe the argument you make for decreased lock time and/or lessened risk of slam-fires applies there, too.
