Feb 3, 2014 · When I said AMD is chasing companies with deep pockets, this is reflected in latest earnings. Gamer pockets are pretty shallow and cannot compete with deep data center pockets. Nvidia makes a lot more off of gaming grade GPU sales than AMD, but even their gaming segment income pales in comparison to their data center income.

Jan 26, 2024 · Nvidia doesn't care about gamers and AMD doesn't care about productivity users - so, they have indifference throughout those two markets. They both care about AI - customers that have lots of cash, that want a ton of vram and don't care about greedy corporations and will spend $$ to get the gpu that makes themselves money is who they care about.

It does its best to ensure the market is dry of previous generation parts by the time the new ones land in that price bracket. The 5080 is likely going to stand well up against the 4090 in terms of performance so Nvidia is matching the price point.

Dec 6, 2024 · Always wait, see how well the NVIDIA 5000 and AMD 8000 series perform and how they price them. I don't see Intel GPU's as much of an option unless you primarily do some serious video editing using AV1, then some light to moderate gaming. As for used cards, used NVIDIA cards go for much cheaper than used AMD cards.
