The Bank of England £50 note is a sterling banknote circulated in the United Kingdom. It is the highest denomination of banknote currently issued for public circulation by the Bank of England. [note 1] The current note, the second of this denomination to be printed in polymer, entered circulation on 5 June 2024. [1]

Jul 15, 2019 · This note replaces our paper £50 note which was withdrawn from circulation after 30 September 2022. You may be able to deposit withdrawn notes at your own bank or with the Post Office. Alternatively, you can exchange withdrawn banknotes with selected Post Office branches or with the Bank of England.

There are four denominations (values) of Bank of England notes in circulation: £5, £10, £20 and £50. They all feature either the portrait of King Charles III or of Her late Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II.

The pound sterling banknotes in current circulation consist of Series G Bank of England notes in denominations of £5, £10, £20 and £50. The obverse of these banknotes issued through 4 June 2024 feature the portrait of Elizabeth II originally introduced in 1990.

This uncirculated 50 Scottish pound sterling note is a standard circulation banknote issued by the Bank of Scotland. It is a red polymer note that is dated 01 June 2020 and measures 146 mm x 77 mm. Its obverse side features Sir Walter Scott and thistles over the Bank of Scotland building. Its reverse side shows a Falkirk ship lifting a wheel.

The Series F banknote, the 50 pound note, entered circulation on 2 November 2011. It is the first Bank of England banknote to feature two Britons on the reverse – James Watt and Matthew Boulton.
