U.S. automaker Tesla's sales of China-made electric vehicles fell 11.5% to 63,238 units in January from a year earlier, data from the China Passenger Car Association showed on Friday. Deliveries of China-made Model 3 and Model Y vehicles were down 32.

These EVs were assembled from January 3, 2022, to September 23, 2023, and are equipped with an electronic power steering system that may not provide enough steering assistance. A statement from China’s State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) says this could cause the electronic power steering to malfunction.
