A prolonged threat of flash flooding, gusty winds and hail pose a risk to those in the Midwest, as strong storms could continue to hit the area this weekend. On Friday night into early Saturday morning, storms swept across parts of the Upper Midwest, bringing wind gusts up to 80 mph and reports of downed trees and power lines.

Massachusetts is finally going to be getting some respite from the hot, muggy weather we have been having later next week, but before that, there is a possibility of strong to severe thunderstorms on Sunday afternoon into the evening.

Monday afternoon will feature a few fair mix of sunshine and clouds, but the early morning rain and clouds will hold our temperatures to the mid-80s. It will still feel like the lower 90s thanks to some elevated humidity.

As storms approach the Twin Cities and eastern Minnesota, they are weakening, prompting fewer severe thunderstorm warnings. However, there is still heavy rain, strong winds and plenty of lightning and thunder. There is a special weather statement for winds and heavy rain in the Twin Cities through 7:30 a.m. on Saturday.
