Rodrigo Duterte, who led the Philippines from 2016 to 2022, will face allegations of crimes against humanity for overseeing death squads in his war on drugs.

Rodrigo Duterte previously insisted that the ICC has no jurisdiction over the Philippines, since he pulled the country out of the tribunal in 2019, three years after it took note of the drug war's rising death toll.

Rodrigo Duterte was arrested on a warrant from the International Criminal Court for alleged crimes against humanity.
