While Norris began the year as the odds-on favorite to win the Drivers’ Championship and won the season-opening Australian Grand Prix, he arrives in Miami sitting second to teammate Oscar Piastri in the standings.

The British driver’s weekend started in peculiar circumstances when he took to the track with a spanner and torch inside his car.

Norris was able to return to the pits, but the FIA immediately launched an investigation over McLaren allegedly “releasing a car in an unsafe condition”. The team were found guilty of the offence and were handed a warning.
