Pete Hegseth’s spokeswoman got testy when forced to answer questions over whether the defense secretary believed she—and other women—should be allowed to vote. Hegseth—known for his ultra-Christian views—last Friday shared a video of a pastor supporting repealing the 19th Amendment.

The Pentagon clarified on Thursday that Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth thinks women should have the right to vote, despite his sharing of CNN reporting which featured religious leaders he supports saying they would back the repealing of the 19th Amendment.

The man who oversees the nation’s military has reposted a video on X, formerly Twitter, about a Christian nationalist church that included various pastors saying women should no longer be allowed to vote and should “submit” to their husbands.
