Frederik Andersen recorded his first postseason shutout in five years as the Carolina Hurricanes beat the visiting Washington Capitals 4-0 on Saturday afternoon in Raleigh, N.C., to take Game 3 of their Eastern Conference semifinals series.

Frederik Andersen returned to the Carolina Hurricanes' net at the start of the second round and delivered the kind of goaltending they've gotten from him whenever he has been healthy.

The Canes held a limited practice on Thursday and Frederik Andersen was on the ice, taking shots along with the team's extras. The 35-year-old netminder was initially injured in Game 4 against the New Jersey Devils after a collision with Timo Meier, and was not available for Game 5.
