The city of Minneapolis will pay $600,000 to a woman who alleged that former policeman Derek Chauvin pinned her to the ground with his knee in January 2020, just months before he used the same maneuver on George Floyd.

The $600,000 settlement is the latest in a series of lawsuits alleging excessive force by Mr. Chauvin, the former police officer convicted of murdering George Floyd.

The city of Minneapolis has agreed to pay $600,000 to settle a lawsuit by a woman who alleged that ex-Officer Derek Chauvin hauled her from her minivan and pinned her to the ground with his knee in January 2020,

The agreement marks more than $36 million in settlements that Minneapolis has paid out due to lawsuits brought over the conduct of the ex-police officer.

The Minneapolis City Council on Thursday voted to approve another hefty legal settlement related to ex-police officer Derek Chauvin.

Minneapolis will pay $600,000 to settle a lawsuit from Patty Day, who alleged ex-Officer Derek Chauvin used excessive force on her in 2020, mirroring his actions in George Floyd’s murder.

Chauvin then assumed his signature pose, pressing his knee into the subdued and handcuffed Patty’s back — just as he would later do to snuff the life out of George Floyd,” the lawsuit reads.

Minneapolis will pay $600,000 to settle a lawsuit from Patty Day, who accused former Officer Derek Chauvin of using excessive force during her arrest in January 2020. This brings the city’s total payments for Chauvin-related misconduct cases to over $36 million.
