Chinese AI startup DeepSeek’s claim of developing a powerful AI model at a much lower cost than major tech giants like Alphabet’s (GOOGL)

At the Artificial Intelligence Action Summit, Google's Demis Hassabis expressed skepticism over DeepSeek's AI model cost claims. He pointed out potential oversights in DeepSeek's reported training expenses and accused reliance on Western AI models.

"It's using known techniques, actually many of the techniques we invented at Google and at DeepMind," Demis Hassabis said on Sunday.
