Wind tunnel experiments led to accurate calculations of lift and drag. In 1903 in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, they made the first sustained, controlled, powered flight in history, lasting 12 seconds.
They started to question the table, and the Wright brothers found that the calculations were off by more than 33%. The brothers used a bicycle to make a wind tunnel and make their own calculations.
