The unexploded ordnance, discovered during a site renovation, were described as “practice bombs” that still carry a charge and must be removed by professionals.

Although the devices found during construction work were practice bombs, they can be harmful. Officials said there could be more.

Dozens of unexploded practice bombs dating back to World War Two were discovered under a playground in northern English town of Wooler. Video and images released by the Wooler Parish Council showed excavators digging the ground in the playground area.
