A semi-truck that was delivering millions of pollinating bees overturned on a Whatcom County road, allowing millions of the insects to escape.

“250 million bees are now loose,” the Whatcom County Sheriff’s Department wrote on social media.

While some beekeepers aim only to produce honey, many others rent out their hives to farmers who need the insects to pollinate their crops.
