As of Friday, the Tesla Model Y has an entry price that's $17,000 higher than it was earlier in the year. It's now also topped the original Model S entry price of $57,400.

At the beginning of January, a five-seat Tesla Model Y long-range crossover cost $65,990; on January 12 Tesla dropped this to $52,990. Now, that has gone up by $2,000 to $54,990.

But Tesla also tried to boost sales in other ways. It announced a $1,000 price hike was coming to the Model Y, its most popular vehicle, on April 1.

The Model X is slightly bigger than the Model Y, with a length of 198.3 inches and a wheelbase of 116.7 inches. The Model Y is shorter, at 184.8 inches long with a wheelbase of 113.8 inches.

The company's website now shows that the price of the Model Y has been raised by $1,000 to $58,990 according to a report from Reuters. The Tesla Model 3 saw a price cut of $500 to $42,990.

Tesla cut the price of its Model Y by $3,000 and the Model 3 by 4.7% to make it less than $40,000. Tesla stock was down 2.9% as of 9 a.m. EDT following the move.
