At St. James Middle/High School, 35% of students scored at or above the proficient level for math, and 42% scored at or above that level for reading. The school’s minority student enrollment is 56%.

A local parent is calling for stronger measures to combat bullying at St. James Middle School, as part of a broader effort to address a nationwide crisis affecting students daily.

Horry County Schools said 43 students were on board when a pick-up truck rear-ended the school bus that was headed to St. James Middle School. There are no reported injuries.

Acacia Miller teaches an English class to 11th and 12th graders at St. James Middle/High School. The high school is about 62% Latino, said Supt. Steve Heil.

The St. James Middle School Special Olympics Committee is hosting “Teacher on the Roof” on Friday from 3:30 p.m. to midnight.

Vestry member John Klipfel said St. James had a hard time competing with the newly upgraded Ormond Beach Middle School and Hinson Middle School that opened in northern Daytona Beach in 2005.
