SPRINGFIELD – A long-awaited tax abatement program that will give senior citizens a chance to work for 67 hours in exchange for a $1,000 rebate on their taxes is beginning this year.
After abatement and selective demolition, the project has surpassed its original $16.5 million budget. The project needs an additional $6.7 million to close the funding gap.
