A decade ago, a fence reaching up to 12 feet high — and buried 2 feet below the surface — was put in along the 241 Toll Road.

The $143.7 million Caltrans project covers roughly 10 miles of the freeway between Van Nuys and Westwood, with repair work scheduled on weekends, in the overnight hours.
