Electric truck enthusiasts have a new special edition model to lust after. Following last week’s teaser campaign, Rivian has just released the first unique R1S and R1T variants since the Launch Edition models arrived back in 2022.

Rivian on Wednesday launched a limited-edition of its R1 electric vehicle called the California Dune for off-road driving through sands.

Rivian has unveiled the exclusive California Dune Edition R1S and R1T variants, both of which sport a color inspired by California’s deserts.

Rivian announced the California Dune edition of its R1 electric vehicles, with new 20-inch All-Terrain wheels, a new paint color, and a protective underbody shield for those with a desire for some serious off-roading.

Rivian has introduced the new R1T and R1S California Dune Editions. They have a unique paint job, special wheels, and a two-tone interior. The EVs have a tri-motor powertrain with 850 hp and 329 miles of range.

The first special-edition Rivians wear a tan paint job called California Dune, pack traction boards atop the roof, and feature two-tone interior upholstery.

You can get the rally-inspired 20-inch wheels in beige or graphite, but they're exclusively available on the new limited-edition California Dune models.

Rivian sent out a teaser via email and social media stating that “ a mirage takes shape Feb 19. ” The photos included several views of sand dunes and a black-and-white photo of a Rivian vehicle, leading many to surmise that part of the announcement would involve a new color.
