Former Lafayette Jeff and Purdue star Doug Downing was once a No. 1-ranked QB. Downing was inducted into the Indiana Football Hall of Fame on June 9.

Downing was a quarterback at Purdue University from 1984-87. As a senior in 1987, Downing completed 102 of 200 passes for 1,065 yards and six touchdowns.

The 6-foot 225-pound redshirt freshman has impressed during the preseason practices as Purdue looks for different options to improve its running game. Downing appears to have the skillset to help.
