The 36-day long battle for control of a heavily fortified pacific island, fought from the 19th of February through the 26th of March, 1945, has become such a significant part of Marine Corps lore

The Marine Corps League held their 25th annual Iwo Jima Day Event in the Massachusetts State House to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the famed Pacific theater battle, with one of the last living Iwo Jima veterans in attendance.
