Jackie’s wedding dress is a part of the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum ’s permanent collection and was last on display in 2003 to celebrate the pair’s 50th wedding anniversary.

However, 10 days before the Sept. 12 wedding, a major crisis occurred: a pipe in Lowe’s studio burst and ruined Jackie’s’ gown and nine of the 15 bridesmaids’ dresses.

She brought her daughters, Jaqueline and Lee Bouvier, to Lowe for their debutante gowns in 1947. In 1953, Lowe was commissioned to design Jacqueline’s wedding dress and bridal party gowns.
