Israel repeatedly struck Iran’s largest enrichment site at Natanz and at its Isfahan nuclear complex. But the full extent of the damage to the country’s nuclear program—or Iran’s ability to race secretly toward a nuclear weapon—remains unclear.

When Israel launched its series of strikes against Iran last week, it also issued a number of dire warnings about the country’s nuclear program, suggesting Iran was fast approaching a point of no return in its quest to obtain nuclear weapons and that the strikes were necessary to preempt that outcome.

The Biden administration rallied to Israel’s side when Israel struck Iran last year in retaliation for Iranian backing for its enemies in its war against Hamas in Gaza and Hezbollah and for an intense barrage of Iranian missiles on Israel.
