Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp and other state officials held a news conference Tuesday morning to give an update on winter storm preparations and urge Georgians to stay off the roads as conditions are expected to deteriorate rapidly.

Georgia Emergency Management and DOT crews say most of the interstates and roads statewide are prepared for the winter storm.

State officials announced one death due to the weather. They said a critical care patient slipped out of a critical care facility and died from hypothermia.

Brian Kemp and other state officials are warning metro Atlanta residents to stay off the road on Tuesday due to winter weather. State officials said to stay off the roads starting at noon. They added that people should stay at their destination for the next few days.
