Goku's first fight against Frieza may have introduced the Super Saiyan form, but it isn't the battle that made it the centerpiece of the franchise.

Since Daima has tossed out a few good swerves, and last week's episode in particular escalated well past anything I could have imagined, I think I set my expectations too high for another big twist here.

It may seem like a problem that Goku has obtained Super Saiyan 4 before Dragon Ball Super, but there's actually a convenient explanation already.
