HAMPTON – Eddie William Johnson, 65, died Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2004. Born in Erwin, W.Va., he had been a Hampton resident since 1969 and was a member of St. Marks United Methodist Church.

John Melvin Hampton was born on January 8, 1932, to the late Eddie Hampton and Polly Mae Graham Hampton in Hazel Green, Alabama. He came to Chattanooga in 1957 and joined Zion Hill Baptist Church.
