Spirit AeroSystems divests Airbus assets, handing over multiple critical aerostructure production facilities before Boeing buyout.

Spirit AeroSystems, a key Boeing supplier, is temporarily laying off workers on its 737 production line to manage an inventory surplus, the company said Friday.

Europe’s Airbus has finalized an agreement to take some assets from Spirit AeroSystems, both companies said Monday, completing a critical part of a transatlantic carve-up of the struggling supplier with US rival Boeing.
