In honor of Black History Month, community members gathered on Upper Sproul for “Culture on the Block,” a flea market event featuring Black vendors, performances and caterers Friday.

This is Black on the Block, a semiannual flea market showcasing Black-owned businesses, which took over Arlington last weekend. Over 9,000 people bought tickets to the event.

The Beehive, a Black-owned space in South L.A. is a hub for events like Black Market Flea and Everyday People, while nurturing youth through its tech center.

Those who apply by August 31 and awarded will receive $250 to not only cover the fee of vending at Black On The Block, but also any market of their choice.
