The following year, the cavernous indoor ballroom was built. Verderbar’s dance floor was superbly engineered. Had its supports been too thin, it could collapse under the weight of 1,000 dancers.

The newly built ballroom featured a 35-foot fountain with cushioned leather booths at the entrance, a second floor overlooking the ballroom and a stage for “hep-cats” with a sunken orchestra pit.
