Rookie Will Warren (2-2, 4.75) has battled inconsistency thus far, and the Yankees parted ways with Carlos Carrasco (2-2, 5.91) last week. Fried and Carlos Rodón (3.29 ERA and an American League-high 67 strikeouts in 54.2 innings) can’t carry the rotation on their own, especially if Gil and Stroman remain out through the summer.

Stroman struggled in all three of his starts this season, and lasted just nine batters in his most recent start on April 11 before landing on the IL. On a rainy night in The Bronx against San Francisco, he allowed five runs on four hits and three walks in just 0.2 innings.

The New York Yankees’ biggest question this year has been their starting pitching. Carlos Carrasco was sent down to AAA after multiple bad starts, Will Warren finally got off the schnide recently, and injuries have been plentiful.
