Trey Smith was signed to the franchise tag by the Kansas City Chiefs as the star offensive lineman is seeking an extension.

Trey Smith—who also was absent from voluntary workouts—was seen at minicamp on Tuesday. He is seeking a long-term contract after the Chiefs franchise tagged him in February. Under the tag, Smith would make $23.4 million, making him the highest paid guard in the NFL. The Chiefs have until July 15 to sign Smith to a long-term deal.
