By Monday, we're back to strong winds and temperatures in the 80s. Red flag warnings were just south of us on Saturday. We could easily see these warnings return by Tuesday or Wednesday.  What we need is rain.

After a brief cooldown, heat and high winds are expected to return to North Texas. Residents should prepare for increased fire danger this coming week.

A cold front could sweep through northern Texas next week, following potential freezing temperatures Saturday night. Friday night in Amarillo could see temperature lows of 36 degrees, with wind speeds up to 25 or 35 miles per hour. Saturday will start off a little warmer, before dipping to freezing temperatures, with lows of 30 degrees.
