Five members of Venezuela's opposition who spent over a year sheltered in the Argentine Embassy in Caracas have arrived safely in the United States

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio did not provide details of the group's movements to reach the U.S., but he described the event as a rescue operation.

Venezuela's opposition on Wednesday said that the government of President Nicolas Maduro had been surprised by the "international rescue" operation to remove five Venezuelan members of the opposition who had been living in Argentina's diplomatic residence in Caracas.
