WASHINGTON (AP) — As President Donald Trump spars with California’s governor over immigration enforcement, Republicans in Congress are calling other Democratic governors to the Capitol on Thursday to question them over policies limiting cooperation with federal immigration authorities.

The House Oversight Committee is hearing from the high-profile Democratic governors of Illinois, Minnesota and New York on Thursday during a timely hearing about their states' immigration policies that some members of the Republican-led committee call "sanctuary" policies that they claim shield criminal illegal aliens from immigration enforcement.

Amid unrest in California, Republicans pressed the governors of other blue states on their immigration policies, including on limiting cooperation with federal enforcement efforts.
