Florida State dropped its lawsuit against the ACC and now is focused on maximizing its revenue by playing the best competition it can.

No. 7-seed and reigning ACC champion Duke was overpowered by No. 2-seed Florida State Friday afternoon as the Seminoles rode an eight-run third inning to a 14-7 victory in Durham. Florida State scored in all but two innings to cruise to victory and leave the Blue Devils waiting to learn where they will head for an NCAA regional.

Mississippi State and Florida State have played 11 times in the NCAA tournament. MSU holds a 7-4 advantage and won the Tallahassee Regional in 2007 and 2018.

Jamir Watkins was an All-ACC second-team selection this past season, averaging 18.4 points, 5.7 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.2 steals.

The Eagles lost in the second round to North Carolina, 7-2, despite leading for the first six innings of the game. The Tar Heels went on to win the tournament.
