A teenager who repeatedly stabbed 15-year-old Elianne Andam in a row over a teddy bear has been ordered to spend at least 23 years in prison for her murder. Hassan Sentamu, then 17, attacked the schoolgirl outside a shopping centre in Croydon, south London, on 27 September 2023, his trial at the Old Bailey heard.

A teenager who stabbed Elianne Andam, 15, to death in an ‘act of unimaginable violence’ at a bus stop in south London has been jailed for life. Hassan Sentamu killed the schoolgirl with a kitchen knife outside the Whitgift Centre in Croydon, on September 27, 2023, over an innocent ‘joke’.

Sentamu, 18, was sentenced to a minimum of 23 years in prison for murdering 15-year-old Elianne in September 2023 in Croydon. He has served time on remand, however, so this is reduced to 21 years and 199 days from today. Sentamu was previously found guilty of murder after more than 11 hours of deliberation.
