Edits is owned by Instagram, a subsidiary of Meta, and CapCut is owned by ByteDance. As of Sunday afternoon, CapCut was unavailable in the U.S.

Edits appears to be Meta 's answer to CapCut, TikTok's sister app that is also owned by China-based parent company ByteDance, which allows users to create and edit video on their phone or computer.

What is worrisome, though, is that a TikTok ban, should it ever happen, would also see the removal of CapCut, a top-of-the-line video editing app owned by TikTok's parent company Bytedance.
