The Carolina Hurricanes and Washington Capitals play Game 2 of their Eastern Conference semifinals in the Stanley Cup Playoffs Thursday in D.C.

Edmonton dominated a scoreless second period, outshooting the Golden Knights 12-1, but couldn't take advantage of two power plays. Adam Henrique had the best chance to tie it, but his wrist shot from the high slot caromed off the crossbar.

There is a huge difference between how the Carolina Hurricanes and the Washington Capitals try to score goals. The Hurricanes have by far the highest shot volume in the NHL playoffs, while the Capitals led by NHL career goal-scorer Alex Ovechkin are more selective and use their defense to generate offense by focring turnovers.
