Not long ago it appeared as if boxing would be removed from the Olympic program, perhaps forever. Years of scandals, allegations of match fixing and battles between Olympic leaders and boxing’s former governing body had pushed one of the Olympics’ oldest sports off the schedule for the 2028 Los Angeles Summer Games.

Boxing will remain an Olympic sport after the International Olympic Committee unanimously votes for it to be included in the 2028 Games in Los Angeles.

Boxing was included on Thursday in the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics programme after a unanimous vote from the International Olympic Committee, ending years of doubt over the sport's Olympic future.
