Berkshire Hathaway Inc. (NYSE:BRK-B) is one of the 13 best blue-chip stocks to buy, according to analysts. On June 30, it emerged that renowned investor and CEO, Warren Buffett plans to donate $6 billion worth of company shares.

The soon-to-be-former CEO of Berkshire Hathaway has donated 12.36 million Berkshire Class B shares, worth $6 billion, to the Gates Foundation and four family charities. The Gates Foundation received the majority of the shares, with a gift of 9.43 million.

Berkshire's Class A shares (BRK.A) have never split, and it's been 15 years since the Class B shares (BRK.B) underwent a 50-for-1 forward split.
