By Wayne Cole SYDNEY (Reuters) -Asian shares made fractional gains on Monday while the dollar dithered as confusion over U.S. trade policy showed little sign of easing, in a week packed with major economic data and mega-tech earnings.

Japan’s TOPIX index is in positive territory for the past 6 months, up 0.37% for the period. It’s an example of a global trend in the equity markets: The Asian indexes are performing much better than the major U.S. markets. India’s Nifty 50 is within one percentage point of going positive over the same time period.

Asian shares are trading mixed, as worries crept back following a Wall Street rally that came after President Donald Trump appeared to back off his criticism of the Federal Reserve and his tough talk in his trade war.
