Two sanitation workers who were on the picket line in the ongoing District Council 33 union strike were hit by a vehicle in Philadelphia's Port Richmond section.

Striking city workers are joining picket lines outside Philadelphia City Hall, public libraries and other worksites as nearly 10,000 unionized employees walked off the job in search of better pay and benefits.

While police and firefighters are not on strike, many of the city's blue-collar workers, such as trash collectors, are, according to Reuters.
