The White Sox spent the first three games at Kauffman Stadium a play or two away from earning hard-fought road wins against a playoff contender. Thursday’s finale did not follow that same pattern.

Bobby Witt Jr. hit a walk-off single to cap off a hilarious comeback fueled by a comedy of errors by the White Sox in a 4-3 Royals win. Seth Lugo dominated the White Sox in three starts last year, and while he wasn’t quite as sharp tonight he had an effective quality start.

Yet, the Royals found a way. KC bested the White Sox bullpen with a 4-3 comeback victory at Kauffman Stadium. It took a little luck. Burke allowed one run across 6 1/3 innings. Royals outfielder Kyle Isbel drilled a solo home run in the sixth inning to cut into a two-run deficit.
