WASHINGTON -- Logan Thompson made 25 saves, including 14 in the third period, and the Washington Capitals extended their lead in the Eastern Conference First Round with a 3-1 win against the Montreal Canadiens in Game 2 at Capital One Arena on Wednesday.

For the second straight game, the Canadiens mounted a third-period push on the Eastern Conference's top seed. Again, it wasn't enough.
